Transforming Communities By Educating the Girl Child

IIMPACT provides educational opportunity to girls, from socially and economically disadvantaged communities of India, who traditionally have no acesss to schooling. Our aim is to break the cycle of illiteracy that girls from such communities are mired in. This is done through local community-based Learning Centers, where they get meaningful and stimulating education up to Year 5 and are guided to their entry in to mainstream education. We are supported by corporations, trusts and individuals who want to make a difference.

Why we are different

Established in 2003, IIMPACT has identified a specific focus, developed a clear strategy and proved the delivery model in terms of social outcomes as well as scalability. Educating the Girl Child has been shown to transform the community.

Today IIMPACT educates 30,000 girls in 9 States of India.

Almost all girls who complete the Class V program go on to middle and high school

100% of donor funds go towards educating girls.

Your support is needed

The vision of IIMPACT is to take the number of Learning Centres to 2,000 by the year 2014, which will directly benefit 60,000 girls from socially and economically disadvantaged communities and change the society in which they live.

USD$5 helps IIMPACT provide quality education to a village girl for an entire month very close to her home. She will be allowed to learn at their own pace, building her confidence and encouraging her to express her talents. This girl would have never been to school before.

Separately USD$5 provides text books note books and pencils for one girl for 6 months.

The project can be visited (with prior notice) on working week days from 9 am to 1 pm. It takes approximately one and a half hours in a taxi from town. Please contact Urvashi Nair at +91 98100 06423 or [email protected] if you would like to arrange a visit.
